The Joseph Wall Grist Mill / Glenwood Roller Mill near 371 Old Mill Road, Glenwood, Utah. The original section of black volcanic rock with a mansard roof was constructed in 1884 by Joseph Wall, an early Mormon pioneer settler in the area. The addition with the peaked roof was added in 1900.

The mill has now been converted into a private home/residence in a lovely shady setting with mountains in the distance.

The mill pond above the mill, fed by a canal from Mill Creek, provided about 16' of fall to power the mill.

This photo shows the penstock, today made of pvc pipe, that feeds the mill from the mill pond.

The end of the penstock as it enters the mill, the water passing through a bar screen, then disappearing under the boards and into the mill structure.

Reinforcement rod caps on the ends of the rods that runs through the flooring of the mill to the opposing outer wall, where it has a similar cap or keeper. These keepers seem to be small steel gears that were welded to the ends of the rods. The rods themselves help to provide extra strength for the mill walls to bear the heavy weight required of them.

The sun was close to setting as these photos were taken. A very nice early Mormon stone mill that actually looks older than its years, partly because of its rustic location, and partly due to the more primitive, but sturdy, style of contruction.
