This building replaced and earlier mill that was destroyed by a fire in 1898.
Today, it is the Tuscarora Mill Restaurant, since 1985, at Leesburg’s Market Station.
The floor below the restaurant is the South Street Under, a coffee house featuring soups & sandwiches using specialty breads.
The Saffer family, C.C. Saffer & Son, of Leesburg purchased the mill in 1917 for $7,000.
They ran the business for over 50 years. In 1969 it was conveyed to Mr. McKimmey, who operated a feed business out of the mill.
The mill was relocated from its original site just 33' south of its present location in 1984. see both photos directly above this photo.
The French styled building, reminiscent of St Genevieve, Mo. buildings, is the Fire Works Pizza. This building can be seem also on the vintage pics of the Tuscarora Mill move in the early 1980's. GPS: 39D 6.76'N, 77D 33.79'W ele 315'/96 meters Leesburg Quadrangle
