Wambold's Mill/Buck's Mill
Along Old Pa 309 at Pa 152 in the town of Sellersville, Pa.
Early brick mill, 3.5 stories tall with dimensions of 30'x45'. There could have been an earlier mill, since this mill is in great shape for a brick mill dating back to 1730. Known as Wambold's Mill early on from the beginning of its history. Abraham Wambold, one of the earliest residents of Sellersville, bought the tract of land on the Perkiomen Creek in 1738, and built a grist mill, a dwelling, and a tannery. Mr. Wombold's businesses carried on for many years, serving the farmers grinding and leather needs.
Later was used as a car maintenance garage and tire shop, being known as the Old Mill Tire Shop. Since 1938, after being purchased by Willard E. Buck, it has been a retail furniture store.
The mill was in the early stages of restoration/renovation in June 2004.
Fall 2014 - the Sellersville Mill is once again being restored, but due to is proximity to the creek and propensity for flooding, the first floor has been filled-in.
Buck's Furniture has been a borough landmark for over half a century and more.
Completion of the update/remodel that was begun in 2015 finally culminated in the fall of 2019.
A floodlight has shown on the front of the building at night for over 50 years, to advertise the furniture store. Notice the bricked in arches on the side of the mill. No doubt inlet and/or outlet arches or both.
The rear portion of the Mill has been raised to two floor above the flood plain and the original 50' beams were taken out and relocated to the second floor, with tongue and groove ceiling
It is the oldest individually owned business and is housed in the oldest building in the borough.
The dam on the Perkiomen Creek. Upstream several miles is Perkasie to the left up W. Walnut Street, and South Perkasie to the right on Pa 152.
