Zapach's Grist Mill
On Limeport Road west of Lanark,Pa., Upper Saucon Twp., Lehigh Co. One mile north of Limeport on Limeport Pike/Srr 39002 on the west side of the road a couple hundred yards back a lane. Mill is visible from the road.
Massive fieldstone, sandstone, limestone combination structure of 3.5 stories measuring approx. 45x55 feet. Part of a section of the south wall appears to have been repaired or a shed of three story height had been removed. Interesting red cross-like design in a circle between third door and the gable end catshead. A stone dated 1819 is in the building wall. Saucon Cr. flows behind the structure and originally powered the mill. In November 1987, the mill was still being used for corn drying and storage on the farm of which it is a part. Very, very good shape in 1987.
Part of a section of the south wall appears to have been repaired or a shed of three story height had been removed.
The barn on the Zapach Mill property. The barn has been decoratively painted with the Ceresota Flour name and miller logo.
Painted on the east side of the barn is a scroll containing the names and dates of ownership of all the owners from 1742 through the present day.
More advertising signs, this time painted on the lower section of walls in side the main barn, second story hay mow walls.
A sign showing Glidden Feeds, Indianapolis, Indiana.
