Weighley Textile Mill / John Weighley & Sons
A quarter mile south of Berlin on US 219, turn left onto Weigley Mill Road, bear right onto the hardtop and go one mile to the mill on the right.
John Weighley Mill was built in 1824 and located in Brothers Valley Township, Berlin, PA. It was used to produce woven coverlets from 1824 through 1854.
This farm house was built in 1867. *Some info supplied by Don Rininger.
The plaque defines the information about the mill, placed there by Berlin Area Historical Society on September 30, 1979.
The barn was the earliest building on the scene, built in 1809. It may have been rebuilt since its initial construction. The barnyard is populated with Dutch Belted cattle.
The 1.5 frame 15’x20’ mill with red roof and stone foundation is a well-maintained building which was originally used as a textile mill, powered by an overshot wheel using either Millers Run or Buffalo Creek as its source. GPS: 39° 54.55' N 78° 58.21' W ele 2,283'/696 meters Berlin Quadrangle
