Waln's Grist Mill

From Allentown, take CR 539 (Allentown-Davis Station Rd.) southeast 1.5 miles to Walnford Road at the hamlet of Holmes. Make a right turn onto Walnford Rd. and go 1 mile to Crosswicks Creek Park. The mill is on the left, the miller's house on right several hundred yards back.

The nicely restored 3.5 story, 35'x55' frame mill with fieldstone 1st story is the third mill built on this site and of a similar style. Fire resulted in the destruction of the two previous mills, built in 1775 and 1822 repectively. All the mills utilized three run of stones.

The mill is located in Crosswick Creek Park, part of the Monmouth County Park System. The mill is on the National Register of Historic Places and is an historic landmark of the State of New Jersey.
