the earliest mill may have been built around 1770 by Abraham Herr. In 1808 to 1825, Samuel Eby owned a 2 story merchant mill 35'X 40' built of stone. The current mill measures about 40'X 50' and is 3'5 stories in height.
The mill was owned by C. Heistand in 1864, and again in 1875 the mill was known as the Union Mill owned by C.G.Heistand.
Daniel M. Heistand owned & operated the mill in the 1899 survey. The mill is in great condition today, used primarily for storage and as a garage. The four mill doors on the front of the mill face away from the Elizabethtown Road and cannot be seen except to enter the mill/farm property.
