Stover Feed Mill / Edwin F. Stover Mill
In Perkasie, Pa. at 7th and Arch Sts. along the Conrail tracks.
Edwin F. Stover bought the earlier Perkasie Feed Store in 1916. He died in 1928, but his dream for a new mill was realized by his estate in 1938. A 2.5 story frame mill of 40'X 65' dimensions.
The roof is slate, a combination hip roof/second empire, with 3 doors up each end with a catshead at the peak.
This mill was built in 1938 by the Edwin F. Stover Estate and was operated by Arthur & Willard Stover. In 1968, the operators were Mervin(Arthur's son) & Willard Stover.
A long time employee of the mill, Stanley Moyer, who worked there for 35 to 40 years and retiring in the late 1960's, was an uncle of the site manager of millpictures.com, Jim Miller.
The mill operated into the mid 1990's, when it was bought out by Davis Mills of Rushland in Warwick Township, Bucks County. It is still being operated as a feed mill and farm supply store. An earlier associated mill structure from the mid to late 1800's, Freed's Hay House, located east on 7th St. near Race St., was torn down in May 1998.
