Ruins / Site: Flannery's Mill
Three miles south of Birdsboro on Pa 724, turn left on Main St. Follow for about 1 mile, crossing the Schuylkill River, the Conrail tracks, and the Monocacy Creek to the junction with Monocacy Creek Road. The mill site is on the SE corner of the intersection back toward the creek.
A small brick shed that was once part of the mill structure situated on the edge of the mill foundation.
From the intersection of Main St. and Monocacy Creek Road looking south along Monocacy Cr. Rd. The mill headrace is located on the right, comming from an impoundment. The Flannery's Mill stone bridge, 1850, is to the right over the main stream of the Monocacy Creek.
The foundations to the mill, built in the early 1800's, operated as Schrack's Mill, then Isaac Moyer's Mill before becoming Flannery's Mill. More historical info. needed.
The actual gates of the headrace into the mill and the walled headrace are well preserved, although not very well depicted in the photo. The photograper was standing inside the mill when the picture was taken.
