This photo shows the dam on the Perkiomen only several hundred feet upstream of the mill ruins. The Perkiomen Creek furnished power to a turbine that in turn, furnished power to 3 run of grindstones.
The ruins consist of a few stone walls. This photo shows the inlet arch of the former 3 story frame mill with stone foundation. The mill was operated by the Keyser family from 1855 until it closed in 1923.
This photo was taken of the ruins looking south, standing along the exterior wall where the inlet arches allowed the headrace to enter the mill. This photo was taken 180 degrees to, in other words, parallel to the location in the photo below, except that photo was taken over this wall, looking in the same direction - south.
Vintage photo postcard, postmarked August 21, 1907, of Keyser's Mill on Perkiomen Creek near Oaks, Pa.
The south wall from inside of the ruins, opposite photo above, still looking south. The front of the mill was more than likely facing to the right in both photos - towards Lower Indian Head Road.GPS: 40D 8.73'N, 75D 26.73'W ele 112'/34 meters Collegeville Quadrangle
