Roxburg Grist Mill
South out of Belvidere on Greenwich St/Ch 620, becoming Phillipsburg-Belvidere Rd/ Ch 620. Take Cr 519 south at the junction and continue about 3 miles south to Grist Mill Road just past the junction of Cr 519 with Hill Rd. and Roxburg Station Rd. The mill is up the hill, on the right, on Grist Mill Road when the road takes a sharp left over the small bridge over Ragged Ridge Creek.
The original mill was built, probably prior to the American Revolution, by an Irish immigrant by the name of Joseph Mackey, whose family owned and ran the mill into the early 1800's.
Christian Cressman bought the mill about 1837 and soon replaced the old mill with the current, more modern, structure.
The original miller's house on the mill property, home to the current owners, Mr. & Mrs. Robert Ent. Mackey's grandson, William, later became the owner of Cedar Grove Mill, in Bridgeville, Oxford Township. More detailed mill history is on the website. Click the link above the first photo.
A later owner of the mill wwas James Cory, who owned the mill in 1870 and 1880. These were probably tax records years when the owners would be recorded according to the type of business they owned.
