The water-powered grist mill was built in 1812 by Charles Ready on land he had purchased from Uriah Stone in 1802. The mill passed to Ready's daughter and her husband Peter Talley upon Ready's death, just prior to the mills burning.

The mill burned of unknown origin in the 1860's and was rebuilt as the present structure in the 1870's by Robert Carter. Carter was the recipient of the mill following Carter's demise.GPS: 35° 49' 48" N, 86° 10' 35" W

There were various owners into the 20th century. Check the website for further details. The last operator, Wayne Epperly purchased the mill in 1777 and closed it the next year. Tomm & Martha Brady purchased the mill from the Epperly estate in 2006 and began restorations. It opened in 2009 for special events and weddings.
