Grove's Mill and Mansion c. 1875. The 35'x60' mostly brick mill with some stone work on the lower foundation part. Didn't get very good look and pics because of "No Trespassing" sings. The brick 2.5 story mansion is still lived in and has some nice effects. More info.
An earlier grist and saw mill of frame was built by the Grove Brothers in 1815. J. W. Grove built the mansion and new brick mill, now in ruins, in 1875. The same scene from March 2006.
Some of the mill was being dismantled by or before March 2006.
This is a photo from January 2010 showing the inlet or outlet arch fron inside the ruins.
The grist and saw mill were built about 1815, just at the tail end of the War of 1812. The lower arch on the left and an arch or arched doorway in the right side of the back wall.
The front of the mill on the left, the miller's house visible in the upper left, and the low ardh on the middle right of the photo.
The left side of the mill from the front.
The once elegant Victorian home built c. 1875 by the Grove Bros. J. W. Grove was born in a rough-saw frame room of the old sawmill.GPS: 40D 25.94'N, 76D 26.01'W ele. 443'/135 meters Fredericksburg Quadrangle
