**UPDATE: Leonard F. Shaner Jr. 10/05/04 The mill was built by John Porter around 1791 with an internal overshot wheel on the left side that converted the power to belts to drive the grindstones. The mill hasen't been used for about 60 years. Mr. Shaner Jr. is a local historian living close to the mill**
The decaying ruins of this 3 story fieldstone/stucco mill are fast bringing the mill down. In October 1992, the roof of the 35'X 55' mill was still mostly intact, but the doors and windows were out.
It was just a matter of time before the trees would be growing up through the roof, that is unless some preservation group or mill enthusiast had not intervened in the interim. There was an overshot wheel used to power the mill, probably internal.
