John Prall Jr. probably built this linseed oil mill around 1794, when he bought the old grist mill from Daniel Howell. He built the newer stone grist mill, a saw mill, several stone houses [see Prallsville Grist Mill page], and the oil mill which served various purposes,including a store.

The linseed oil mill, currently serving as an art gallery for local artists, is considered one of the best preserved oil mills in the mid-Atlantic area. Artists are actually active on site working on paintings either inside the oil mill or, weather permitting, outside.
This is the Salt Pork House near the Linseed Oil Mill. Pork was salted and stored for winter consumption.
