Old Ross Grist Mill / Pennsylvania-American Water Co, Yellow Breeches Treatment Complex
Located at 107 Meadowbrook Road. Meadowbrook Road branches left off of Old York Road just north of the junction with Lewisberry Road to the left near the Capital City Airport at the southern edge of New Cumberland Boro. just across the Yellow Breeches Creek.
The 40'X 50' stone and frame mill is unusual in that the entire front, first story, and 10'of the sides, top to bottom at least the left side, is constructed of stone. The rest of the left side is frame, as is perhaps the rear above the 1st story and possibly the right side also.
The mill was built in 1814 by Jacob S. Haldeman. The mill was operating until 1911, when it was sold to the Riverton Consolidated Water Co. Over time it was either sold to or the company changed into the Pennsylvania/American Water Co. It is today, 2007, the Yellow Breeches Water treatment Complex for that company. The old mill structure was torn down about 2010, and a smaller modern water plant built.
