Mundis Mills, Inc. #2
At Mundis Race Rd. and N. Sherman St./Pa 24 at Codorus Creek. About 4 miles south of Manchester/Mount Wolf and 4 miles north of North York.
On the south side of Mundis Race Rd. and north of Codorus Cr., the 40'x45' 3 story limestone/1 story frame mill rises 4 stories. The mill was built around 1740 by Christian Bixler. The mill was in full operation as a feed mill in 1977, must have closed soon after and is now used mainly for storage. Some parts have been torn away, but water still runs through the millrace.
The best photo to show the stone walls is the SE corner. The rest has been built around with frame additions.
Also some mill structures across Mundis Race Rd. Some windows and upper wall have been repaired or filled in with fieldstone. Location: (ADC Map #15, D 12).
*Update: I bought the mill about a year ago. The roof on the stone mill and a lot of the frame buildings were falling in. We put a peaked roof on the stone mill which is how it originally looked. I plan to continue fixing it up over time. Alex Snyder 01/26/2009*
