Muddy Creek Forks Roller Mills
Take Pa 74 north of Delta to Airville for roughly eight miles. Turn left on Pa 425 for about one mile, keeping straight on Frosty Hill Road when Pa 425 turns left. Go almost two miles, then the road becomes Downs Road. Go slightly more than one mile & turn left onto Muddy Creek Forks Road/Sr 2069. The mill is at the bottom of the gulch along Muddy Creek.
The first mill on this site was built c. 1759. It was rebuilt in 1847 by James Maffet (Moffet) and again rebuilt in 1890 by Alex Grove. It was last run by water power in 1951 by James Kaiser. The headrace is still quite evident.
The General store across Muddy Creek Forks Road from the mill served also as the railroad station, post office, and telephone exchange for many years. The photo shows the grain elevator and mill structure. GPS: 39' 48.47N, 76' 28.48W 387' elevation

The entire complex of mill and surrounding buildings are owned and preserved by the Maryland & Pennsylvania Railroad Preservation Society. *Update: Thanks to Greta Hittle for the addition of "Railroad" to the above societies name. 05/14/2011*
