Monrovia Mill / Brush Cr. Bark & Sumac Mill-Tannery
From New Market, in the southeast corner of the county, go south on Green Valley Road about 0.3 miles. After going under the RR bridge, the mill will be on the right in 0.1 miles at a sharp turn in the road.
An 1858 atlas of Frederick Co. shows the Brush Creek Bark & Sumac Mill/Tannery at this location.
The structure shows limestone support ribbons for the loading dock.
It was probably used later a feed mill. It dosen't appear to be used for anything right now except perhaps for storage.
Just to the south of the mill across the creek is the site of David Reinhart's Mill. Later a second mill was built on the site; a 3.5 story frame mill about 35'X 55' which featured Sucrene Feeds & Clover Leaf Feeds.
A short cupola or clerestory sits atop the mill structure, closer to the western end.
