Loysville Mill / Farmer's Friend Feed & Supply / Kreider's Mill
The mill is situated near the junction of Sh 274 and Sh 850 in Loysville. It is behind the church, use the road beside the church or Sr 3011 to access the mill beside the cemetery.
The original three story frame warehouse and elevator were built in the first-half decade of the 1900's by Clarence Martin.
The commercial feed mill soon burned down but was rapidly rebuilt and operated by Martin until his death in 1914.
Joseph Lighter bought the mill in 1915 and operated the business with his family until 1933, when the business sold to H. P. Dyson & Son. H. P. and Edgar completely renovated the mill. It burned again in 1953; then, they rebuilt it and sold to S. C. Shope and Ronald L. Bolze, employees, in the same year.
The business was expanded under Shope & Bolze and operation continued unto the purchase by the Umberger Bros. of Fontana, Lebanon Co. in 1976.
The Umberger Bros. were bought out by a former employee of their Fontana mill. Kreider brought about many additions and changes to the business since 1979. GPS: 77' 20.71, 40' 21.99
