Ledford Mill
Go northwest on US 41A from Tullahoma. As you leave town, look for Ledford's Mill Road on the left. In 2008, there is a Lowes store on the west side of Us 41A. Turn left onto Ledford Mill Road and drive about three miles. When Ledford Mill Road turns left, continue straight on Shipman Creek Road a little ways to the mill on the right just past millpond and log cabin.
The 2.5 story frame mill on concrete piers/partial foundationuilt was in 1810, then rebuilt after a flood in 1884.
The mill was active as a flour mill/grist mill/perhaps feed mill into the mid 1990s. GPS: -86.2768402W, 35.4032860N
The mill was restored/remodeled and open as a Bed & Breakfast in 1996. The innkeepers are John & Mildred Spear. ph: 931.455.2546.
The three guest rooms and the common area of the mill feature the old mills equipment.
The mill is set in a hollow below a 25 waterfall that is fed by springwater & groundwater. The penstock feeding out of the impounded millpond, carried water to turn an overshot wheel to power the milling machinery.
The home of the innkeepers of todays Bed & Breakfast and Antique & Gift Shop.
The millpond located above the innkeeper's home behind a dam.
The old mill, located at 1195 Shipman Creek Road, Wartrace, Tn 37183-3312, is located in a scenic environment & is known to serve up a great breakfast; almost a necessary ingredient since it is a Bed & Breakfast.
