Kurtz Mill / Grist Mill Farm Alpacas-replica
From Fairview Road in Glenmoore, go north on Pa. 282, Creek Road, about 0.7 miles to the property on the left. The house-mill sits back off the road about 300'. The address is 2230 Creek Road, Glenmoore.
The 1856 atlas shows Shillish grist and saw mill at this site.
The atlases of 1860, 1873, and 1883 all show Samuel Kurtz the owner of a saw and grist mill.
In 2007 the old mill, in very poor condition, was taken down.
About 200' east of the original site, a house was built, using the stone from the mill, to resemble the mill.
The house is the same size as the mill was using the same design. The windows are the same size and pretty much in the same location as the old mill.
An old aerial view of the old mill and the farm building. I would think, by all appearances, that the old mill was a mill/house combination.
A vintage photo of the front of the old mill. It almost looks as though the front and a side facade is all that was left of the old mill when the photo or drawing was done.
An old sectional French buhr saved and incorporated into the new dwelling.
