Kerrs Mill
Take exit 310 off I-80 for Delaware Water Gap. Take the first left on River Road/Sr 2028/Logging Road 45061(closed in winter). The third road to the left is Old Mill Road. Turn left on Old Mill Road, (right before the elementary school) and drive to the mill at the end of the road.
This mill was built in 1849 by Peter Zimmerman.
Zimmerman operated the mill, built along Marshall's Creek flowing through Silver Lake, for over 25 years.
The mill was in continuous use until the 1920's.
This rock formation and scrap of steel gate mechanism may have been something to do with the water inlet to the mill.
The mill was known as Zimmerman's Mill when this photo was taken.
a hole eaten into the siding, presumably by wood rats, but may be access for bees or hornets nesting within.
The photo shows Pipher's Mill and Silver Lake Falls at North Water Gap. This photo appears to be older than the photo #5, in that the sliding door in front is not extended as far across the mill front as photo #5 and the current photos indicate. Photo #5 also has electrical power to the mill, conduit to the left front.
The signage on the mill front remarks that the mill was built in 1849 by Peter Zimmerman, and later restored in 1972 by the Kerrs.
