Hixson-Skinner / Cole's Grist Mill
On Still Valley Road 500' north of junction with Cr 626/Municipal Drive and along Pohatcong Creek. The mill is about 1 air mile ESE of I-78 south of Phillipsburg, NJ.
The 35'X 40'stone/brick and frame grist mill was built in 1752 on a site utilized by a mill since the early 1700's.
The complex includes a two story, four bay, stucco over stone miller's house dating from the mid. 1700's, a garage, the pony, Pratt Truss steel bridge over Pohatcong Creek, a guest house, and the 4.5 story mill.

The mill last water power into the 1960's,using electricity to operate into the 1980's. Even so, the water-powered equipment and mill machinery are in good condition. Three generations of the John L. Cole family operated the mill into the 20th century.

It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1985. More information is needed on this mill.
