Heyer's Grist Mill
Right turn off Pa 512 from Moorestown after going one mile north. Go south for 3/4 mile to the mill on the right at 568 Heyer Mill Road.
Well maintained 3.5 story limestone mill 30'x50' in dimension. Upper half story is frame covered with slate. An interesting feature of the windows is the fine quality of the 12 panes over 8 panes, except for the two upper windows which are 6 panes over 6 panes.
No catshead, but has a timber projection over flush upper door for lifting sacks to upper floors. Flush upper door is evidence of timber framing on gable ends. The mill is part of the Heyer's Mill Bed & Breakfast complex. *Update: I know that Israel Heyer, born Sept. 28, 1849, ran the mill about 1900. He was the son of Johannes Heyer, born March 21, 1814 in Buchenau Hessan, Nassau, Germany, who came over in 1849 from Germany.
