Herr Mill
About a half mile west of Jonestown on Jonestown Road/Old Hwy 22 just past the Swatara Creek on the left several hundred yards.
A recent mill, built in 1954 measuring about 35'X 70' and standing 2 stories high with a one story 20'X 70' cement block addition on the left side. Various storage bins and pipes are present to enable this modern day, small mill to operate efficiently.
The mill was built in 1954 by Hilda A. & John M. Herr. An earlier mill on the site was owned for a time by Aldern Hoffman according to a Jonestown historian.
The older mill would probably have been water-powered by either the Union Canal of the Swatara Creek.
The mill is operating today, March 2006, to meet the needs of the local farmers in central Lebanon County. *Update: Information and photos provided by Robert T. Kinsey 03/12/06*
