A frame mill was constructed on this site soon after the RR reached Hanpstead in 1879.
The Charles Murray family built the mill and ran it until c. 1910.
At this time Irvin S. Leister purchased the mill property and in 1912 work on his new grain elevator started.
In 1921, Leister sold the mill to Malko Milling & Lighting Co. Previously the mill was operated by Switzer & Bixler.
Later owners of this property included, Hampstead Milling Co., Star Milling Co., Quaker City Mills, and Valley Feed and Supply.
Milling ceased in 1971 when the buildings were converted to other businesses.GPS: 39D 36.36'N, 76D 51.10'W ele. 892'/272 meters Hampstead Quadrangle
