Hammond Mill
North of US 160 2 miles west of Theodosia, turn north on Mo 95, through Longrun to Rd D for a total of 11 miles. Continue on Rd D for about 4 miles to the mill along the stream about 0.2 miles short of Hammond.
The 4 story mill, 3 stories frame and 1 story limestone, was undergoing restoration when a tornado completely took the roof off the structure, thereby suspending efforts at restoration.
The mill is in a beautiful pastoral valley with a creek that has a concrete fording between the mill and the town of Hammond.GPS: 36° 40.57'N, 92° 38.78'W 725’/221 meters Thornfield Quadrangle
The pictures on this page were taken in the late spring of 1993. A more recent picture has shown the mill to have the roof repaired and more restoration completed; that picture is not of these three. These pictures were taken before the tornado.
