Good's Mill / (Bixler's Mill)
Located On Wide Hollow Road/Sh 897 about one mile south of Fivepointsville and about three miles north of Terre Hill at Muddy Creek near Long Lane.
Lewis G. Good bought the 1847 George Martin Mill in 1899 and in 1904, built his new 40'X 60' frame mill of 3.5 stories on Muddy Creek to utilize two turbines supplied from a 4' dam 500' distant from the mill. The return run of the tailrace measured about 700'. The mill is now in its 4th generation as of 1992, owned and operated by Harold Good at 79 years young. The mill has long since converted to electricity for operating power.
Two earlier mills occupied this site. The first, built in 1774 by Abraham Bixler was a saw mill & grist mill. This mill used one overshot wheel and operated as a flour, grist, saw mill, a hemp & woolen mill, and a cooperage. It was bought by George Martin in 1847, who built a 3 story stone & frame grist mill in 1850. George sold to Lewis Good in 1899.
The mill is still functioning today as far as is known.
