Good's Mill
From Wayne Heights, go east on Pa 16 a short distance to Midvale Road, turn right/south on Millvale Road. Just after crossing the intersection with Amsterdam Road, the mill will be on the right.
The smaller brick mill of 2.5 stories with frame additions on the south end. Notice the odd shaped outhouse front right by the porch.
A vintage photo copied digitally of the mill with advertisement painted on the north end. Jacob F. Good, dealer in grain, feed, fertilizers, salt, plaster, coal, & merchandise. Probably from about 1900 or earlier.
The mill is currently a country store specializing in primitive antiques.
The rear view of Olde Country Emporium as seen from Midvale Road.
Some old sheds behind the mill, probably used for feed storage. Notice the Sunbeam Bread and Royal Crown beverages advertisment signs.
Chutes inside the mill with antiques displayed around them.
A mixer used to mix livestock feed formulations. Ingredients such as cracked corn, middlings, corn gluten, mineral supplements, molasses, etc. were mixed together in various ratios to produce different feeds.
The miller's house, built in 1887, appears to be more recent than the mill. That is quite common, as the mill was usually built first in any one location, then housing came later as money and time permitted.
The mill was owned by John F. Good at one time. Presently it is owned by the Eshelmans, but is for sale. The Eshelmans took over around the 1930's and ran it until the 1980's. It was a grist mill at first then a feed mill later.
