Globe Flour Mills / Yoder Mill / Eichman Mill
From Middleburg, go east on Sh 522 about 2.7 miles to a junction with White Top Road, just before entering the village of Kreamer. Turn left/north on White Top Road. Shortly after the road turns left, turn right on Globe Mills Road/Sr 1007, go about 0.2 miles to the mill on the left. The mill can be seen from Rt. 522.
The mill is built of timber post & beam construction in 1885. One other source stated 1870 as a construction date.
This mill, built in 1885, replaced an earlier frame mill built by in 1788. GPS: 76' 59.19W, 40' 48.07N
One of the later roles of the mill was to serve as a base for a chinchilla raising operation, known as Pine Meadows Chinchilla Ranch. Ownership unknown during the chinchilla operation.
The 3 bay x 4 bay, 3.5 story brick on stone foundation mill was built as a replacement to the 1788 frame mill in 1885 by S.H. Yoder.
A closer view of the inlet arch, through which the water diverted from Middle Creek funneled into the mill to power the milling machinery.
John Reitzman owned the earlier frame mill from 1814-1829. After several ownerships, Yoder bought the mill and built the current mill in 1885(?). The mill was later owned by J.A. Eichman, then his sons Lear and Mark Eichman.
