The three story frame steam mill wass built in 1881 by James Everhart.

A town, Everhartstown, soon grew up where mill worker's houses were built by Mr. Everhart for his roller mill and saw mill, both steam-powered.

Steel flour rollers were installed in 1882, the first in Perry County, as Everhart became convinced that his set of stone buhrs would not be adequate to produce the quantity of white flour he demanded.

Many of the mill workers houses stand today. It was a success less than 100 years, as in 1970, the mill was being used as a chicken house and for storage. The mill is used for storage at the present time.
