Evans /McCreary Mill
North of Oxford on Sh 10, left on Sh 896 to Homeville, left onto Homeville Road and an immediate left on Village Street Road. Go about a quarter mile to the mill on the left at the junction with Collamer Road.
The mill appears to be an old style more reminicent of the Carolinas.
The mill is a 1.5 story frame mill on one story stone foundation.
The mill with the closest house. The house is being renovated as is part of the mill. The house does not really look old enough to be the miller's house however.
This is a picture of a covered bridge taken by my grandfather, William G. Brabson, on September 24, 1957. My grandfather operated a farm on Wilson Mill Road, southeast of Oxford. On the back of the photo is the inscription "McCreary's Mill." I wonder if this is the crossing at Muddy Run where the Mill is located?
Perhaps this house with the barn across Collamer Road is the miller's house?
The portion of the mill where the current renovation is apparent. It seems the mill is used primarily as a barn for storage.
This double springhouse is situated about 200 yards upstream along the creek toward Homeville on the opposite side of the road.
