Dillon Mill
The mill is located on the corner of N. 21st St. and N. 23rd St. in downtown Purcellville
This building was built in 1874 for entrepreneur John James Dillon, whose ancesters arrived on Loudoun Co. in 1764 from Bucks County, Pa.
In 1875, the firm of Milton, Bolyn and Co., run by John and Theodore Milton and Edward Bolyn, began selling seed, fertilizers and agricultural implements out of the building.
In 1943, Contee Lynn Adams, who ran a seed and feed business across the street, decided to concentrate solely on the cleaning of seed and moved his business into the Dillon building.
After Contee's death in 1960, the business was taken over by his son, Contee Lynn Adans, known as Lynn. Raising and selling Christmas trees during slack months was an expanded business by this time.
The mill ceased operations in 1991, the year Lynn died. In 2010, the mill houses offices and other businesses.
