D.D.Fritch Milling Co. / Keystone Roller Mills
In Macungie about 400yards south of Main Street/Pa 100 on the right side of Race Street along the Railroad tracks.
The mill was built in 1876 by David & Nathan Fritch as an expansion of their busines started in an old grist mill built by Harrison Miller in 1813 on the other side of Main St.
The old mill was a frame structure torn down in 1890. This building has been remodeled several times to keep up with competition in the milling industry.
The mill was operated up into the early 1960's by Fritch descendents. Large silos and elevators were capable of storing 100,000 bushels of grain, a capacity in later years used by ConAgra for storage.
The rear of the main mill building, close to where the millrace used to enter the mill. The old mill structure was for a time, a fertilizer mixing facility, as well as many other businesses in the last part of the 20th century.
The part of the millrace between the two sets of steps.
Today, the mill is still functioning as the home of an automotive parts company, Automotive Service Solutions. Some of the many additions have been removed.
