Cline's Grist Mill
Off of New Brunswick Ave./US 22(alt) in Phillipsburg, turn left on Third Ave./Cr 519. Follow Cr 519 south through Alpha (Cr 519/Springtown Road) and turn right on Creek Road, go about 0.6 miles, turn right on Winters Road, cross the Pahatcong Creek and the mill is on the right.
The Cline's Grist Mill was built in 1786as part of an indusrial complex that included a large stone, Germanic Pennsylvania Bank Barn with English arches under the forebay.
It is currently undergoing painstaking restoration by the owner Steve Bobinsky, who is the mayor of Pahatcong Township.
ZThis corner of the mill is quite brushy along Winters Road. The outlet arch is just below the boarded-up window, visible in the photo below, and also an arch is in the rear of the mill in the shadows around the corner.
A better photo of the outlet arch. Some other buildings besides the mill and barn are wagon sheds, corn cribs, and a large 1700's stone miller's house.
An unusual style of construction along the building eaves. This is the same style as depicted on Pa-15-47-01, Old Forge Mill in Chester County, Pa.
A closer view of the eaves on Cline's Mill.
The miller's house built in the 1700's, no doubt around the time the mill was built, plus or minus a few years.
