Chickies Roller Mill on Donegal Springs Run, built by Christian Haldeman c. 1837. He built it on then “Donegal Meeting House Run, near the mouth. It was owned by John Baker 1841 thru 1883 or longer; however, by 1899, it was owned by the Theological Seminary of Lancaster.
The 44’ X 55’ 3.5 story limestone mill was later owned by Dr. John S. Simons (probably during the Theological Seminary ownership). It was at times a grist mill and also a cider mill. There is a county campground located at the associated farm that the mill was once a part of. It was also known as the Donegal Mill, as were several others in the area, creating some confusion.
The mill was used for 3 apartments for many years;, but was recently purchased in December 2011 by Keith Brodfuehrer. They plan to convert the structure into a single family dwelling and call it home.GPS: 40' 3.44 N 76' 31.52 W 285'/87 meters Columbia West Quadrangle
