Carter Hall Mill / Bosteyan's Mill
From the middle of Millwood go southeast on Sh 723 about 0.2 miles to the mill on the left.
Lt. Col. Nathaniel Burwell (once owner of the Burwell-Morgan Mill) began construction of the Carter Hall Plantation in 1792.
This mill was to serve the plantation.
*Update: From owner Roger Chavez, President of Calrke County Historical Association: The mill started c. 1796 (Carter Hall started about same time). The creek is Spout Run, which is why this mill was the Lower Spout Run Mill & the Burwell-Morgan was the Upper Spout Run Mill. This mill also called Bosteyan's Mill, after the long-time miller. The mill has never been lived in, and it has no gearing; possible next usage could be a printing museum. Mary Thomason-Morris, Archivist, CCHA 04/09/2009*
A piece of gearing next to the tree.
The miller's house next to the mill.
The mill is in excellent condition.
