Camargo Mill
Four miles south of Strasburg & 1.5 miles north of Quarryville on Camargo Road.
A 50'X 55', 3.5 story brick mill. Also known as Shultz Mill, it was built in 1823 by Benjamin & Ann Breneman. In 1840, Henry Breneman took over ownership. In 1858, the mill changed hands again to Charles H. Shultz, hence the second name.
View from the northwest, the mill was built in a small community called Carmargo. Ross Rohrer purchased said mill in 1900 and it is still in Ross Rohrer & Son's control at the present time. Used for wheat storage at harvest time. Note several large tile silos. Currently in good condition.
The small white stone/frame building right behind the dried-up dam impoundment was a stable to house and feed the horses of those farmers coming from a distance to have their grain and/or corn ground. The farmers were put up overnight, in the mill perhaps or the miller's house, and their horses cared for out of the weather.
