C.Franklin Miller's Elevator / Waynescastle Mill
From Greencastle, go east on Pa 16 through the village of Shady Grove. Just as you leave Shady Grove, the mill will be on the north side of the highway at the RR crossing in the village of Waynecastle.
Franklin Miller's frame 1900 mill opened for business at 3289 Waynecastle Road along the Western Maryland Railroad tracks in the east section of Antrim Township.
Miller's Waynecastle Mill sold grain, flour, feed, coal, fertilizers, and general house merchandise. The mill burned on May 22, 1922. It was rebuilt the next year with brick. Franklin's son, CHarles F. Miller soon bought out his father, who was 75 years old and ran the new mill. The mill remained in the fatm supply business through 1978.
The mill was purchased in 2003 by Mary Jo Britner. She would like to turn it into some type of facility where she could generate some revenue but still not take away from the mills integrity. Possibly a residential facility for homeless veterans.
