General Elisha Boyd had a 2000-acre village here in the 1820s with two mills, a brick plant, and a coopers shop.
A Red Rose Feed sign. Red Rose Feeds were a major brand of livestock feed in the Ohio Valley and the Atlantic Coast states in the 1900's.
The mill was built in c. 1738 and rebuilt in 1890. Many Civil War skirmishes took place in and around this locale, and in the 1890's, freed men established Black Row here.

A close-up of the sluice & mill wheel. The Only mill in the state with dual water wheels (two tandem Fitz Wheels). Notice the other wheel tucked under the sluicebox. The rearmost wheel appears to be a pitchback wheel, while the forward wheel is an overshot wheel.
The millpond feed by Mill Creek from Cr 51/6 and Cr 26/2 towards the mill, which is situated in a little gooseneck on Giles Mill Road just prior to the creek crossing.
