Verse for Thought
"The people said: Our God, no one is like you. We are all that is left of your chosen people, and you freely forgive our sin and guilt. You don't stay angry forever; you're glad to have pity and pleased to be merciful. You will trample on our sins and throw them into the sea."

Sometimes known as Stouffer Mill, Billow Mill, or Smith Mill. The first mill was built of logs by Jacob Stouffer around 1827. *I am considering selling the mill. I love it, but can't work on it anymore. Anyone interested call 707-777-1735. Ron Kennedy - - Brownawell Mill in Shermansdale, Pa*

Jeremiah Smith bought the log mill in 1881, which was set up with two sets of stones, one for flour & meal and the other for livestock feed.

About a decade later in 1890, Smith built a new mill, on the same site, of 3.5 stories and measuring roughly 32'X 45' with a partial stone foundation.

The new mill was fitted with the new steel roller mills and a turbine soon replaced the waterwheel.

In 1911, Smith's youngest son, John C. Smith, took over the mills operation and in 1924, the mill was sold to Harrison Brownawell.GPS: 40' 19.83'N, 77 10.89'W ele. 456'/139 meters Carlisle Quadrangle

The mills last operator was T. Luke Toomey, in the late 1940's, who used the mill to grind and mix livestock feed for local farmers. The mill closed in 1948 and sat idle many of the succeeding years. Currently in fair-poor condition with some work done recently on the foundation. The roof is in terrific shape, almost new.
