Brown's Mill
Exit I-81 onto eastbound Pa 443. In Pine Grove, take Pa 895 east to The community of Rock. Go about one mile to the mill on the SE corner of Pa 895 and Grist Mill Road.
This mill was built as a flour & grist mill by a former Revolutionary War soldier, John Adam Brown. His mill was built about halfway between Rock and Moyer's Station on the Lower Little Swatara Creek.
Built by a pioneer miller from Pine Grove Township, John Brown's old rubblestone mill remained in the Brown families possession during its entire operating life closing in 1920.
The mill also served as a saw mill, giving the mill great prominence in the Rock community for many generations of milling activity. The mill started out using a waterwheel, later switching over to turbine power.
The miller's house is situated right on the corner of Pa 895 and Grist Mill Road.
