The two story frame mill on stone foundation was built in 1840 by John W. Briner.
The mill was powered by a waterwheel on the back of the mill, then a shaft came through the backwall just below the second floor.
The line-shaft has wooden pulleys lined on it with belts coming off to attach to various other mechanisms for the grinding process.
The overshot waterwheel operated one set of buhr stones. The mill ground corn, buckwheat, and livestock feed.
John Briner was a cabinet maker before becoming a miller, so he also ran a saw mill and made caskets for undertakers.
