The approximate 38'X 55'X 3.5 story mill was constructed of stone and brick prior to 1862. Matenet's Map of Carroll County for 1862 shows Isaac Green's Grist & Saw Mill at this location. The mill at 1311 Broadsbeck Road consists of the mill, a barn, and two farmhouses.

The mill is stuated on the East Branch of the White Oak Creek just slightly upstream from the mouth of the East Branch. Michael S. Brilhart bought the mill in 1866 and rebuilt it to the building seen today.

The mill is bereft of mill equipment today, used primarily of agricultural storage. It suffered three fires in the late 1800's to the early 1900's, remaing in operation into the late 1930's.

Interior repairs were necessary after each fire; but, repairs were made so business must have been above average to warrant the rebuilding costs. The south end had a cement block wagon shed with a frame room above added in the early 1900's.

There is an entrance on the ground level/stone on the west side and on the first story ground level/brick on the east side. GPS: 39' 36.50N, 76' 52.77W 682' elevation

The north gable end has a pulley overhang, catshead, or sack hoist for loading materials from floor to floor or loading or unloading wagons. The owner of the mill and property in 1985 when it was placed on the Maryland Historic Trust register was Harry F. Schaefer, 1311 Broadsbeck Road, Hampstead, Md. 21074.
