Birdsboro Mill
In Birdsboro at Main St. (Pa 724) and Mill St., two blocks east of Pa 82. (Furnace St.).
The mill, built in 1844, is a pink colored limestone structure of 3 stories and measuring approx. 40'x 70'. The mill ceased operations in 1925 and is considered a landmark structure in the township and county. The building is set off by it's mansard roof.
A small 2 story addition on the rear also continues the mansard theme. As of October 1992, it was in great shape and had been remodeled as a branch of the Bank of Pennsylvania. In 2004, it was the M & T Bank, Merchants & Traders Bank.
*Update: This building was not a mill. It was built by the Brooks Steel Foundry Co. in 1875 as a company store. Later, it housed the Conestoga Telephone Exchange,a bank, dentist office, etc. Councilman Richard Happel 09/27/2007*
