The present stone building was built in 1897 by Jacob Bahr, replacing an earlier pre-1828 linseed oil mill.
As part of a farm complex in Gabelsville, about a miles west of Boyertown, the new mill was a combination woodorking mill and a grist mill.
The dam burst in 1938, causing ceasation of the water-powered overshot wheel.
About 20 year earlier photo of the mill from the inlet, rear side.
The mill complex consisted of the mill, a sawmill, a store, dairy barn and accompaning out buildings, and a large fr=armhouse.
