Auburn Roller Mill / Fisher's Mill / Malone Mill
The mill is located on the south side of Pa 895 just west of the borough of Auburn, about 4 airmiles south & southeast of Orwigsburg & Schuylkill Haven respectively.
The 40'X 50' sandstone mill was built to a height of 3.5 stories by John & Catherine Fisher in 1821.
The date is engraved on a cornerstone with the name Catherine still legible.
In the late 19th or early 20th century, John M.Fahl bought the mill from a Fisher owner.
The millpond, fed by Bear Creek, in turn fed the double Fitz waterwheel thru a short penstock to a distribution box.
Some other owners were Howard, Ney, & Francis Phillips. Phillips ran the mill roughly for about 30 years, selling to Harold Grill in the mid 1950's.
The double Fitz steel wheel, supplied water from the distribution box thru the penstock coming out of the pond.

The inside is mostly devoid of machinery, not-with-standing these belt pulleys on a lineshaft and a few other remnants.
The miller's house, lived in by the present owners Warren & Doris Malone since 1972. They have spent a considerable amount of time and money restoring the dam, the millrace, and the ongoing restoration of the mill itself.
The second story side door opposite the millrace/pond. The millrace is about a quarter mile long and about 15'-20' wide, widening even more, almost pond-like, near the mill.
