This mill site dates back to the late 1700's. The area of Spring Mills was founded by the George McCormic family in 1773.
The McCormic family built the first grist mill here. In 1805 the mill operator was Jacob Maize. The present building was built in 1852 by Robert H. Duncan, Esq.
He ran the mill until 1887 when the Honorable William M. Allison became the owner. Allison was as ex-member of the House of Representatives. The mill became known as "Allison's Flouring Mill."
Later the mill was known as Herbster's Feed and Grain. In 2011 the building houses the Spring Mills Fire Co. GPS: 40' 51.32N, 77' 34.36W 1,076'/328 meters Spring Mills Quadrangle
