A. A. Spannuth Grist Mill
Located on Frystown Road, 1.5 miles west of Pa 645 at Frystown and 1.5 miles south of I-78/US 22 as the crow flies.
An impressive 3 story stone/stuccoed mill with a 4th story of frame contructed in the Second Empire (Mansard) Style. The 40'x42' building was built in 1891 after the original mid 18th century mill was destroyed by fire. A post office established in the mill in 1848 caused the mill & community to be known as "Crosskill Mill" after the creek that supplied the power.
The first mill on the site was known to have been there about 1756. The mill was devoid of activity at the time of the visit in November 1987.
The mill has since been repaired to some extent as the pictures taken around 2000 show. Click on the website button for more historical information.GPS: 41' 26.87N, 76' 21.16W 469 elevation
